Accessible Parking Procedure starting May 1st, 2019

MTO Medical Parking SignAccessible/Medical Parking

Staff/Students

Effective May 1st, 2019, all faculty, staff or students who currently utilize a medical permit only parking space will be required to display a valid MTO accessible parking permit in their vehicle, along with a valid parking permit or payment at a meter.

This change will allow flexibility for staff who need to work in various buildings throughout the day, staff will not be assigned a particular spot in a parking lot.  This will provide more options for MTO parking spots across campus.  Parking will continue to ensure that the University meets the standards, as per MTO guidelines, with respect to the number of MTO spots required in each parking lot.

Please note: A valid parking permit is still required when parking in a MTO spot.  Individuals, including visitors to campus, who do not have a valid parking permit (annual, semesterly, monthly or daily permit) will be required to make payment using the paybyphone app.

Temporary Medical Accommodations

Staff

Should faculty or staff require a temporary medical accommodation (up to 3 months), arrangements will be made by parking to accommodate the short term parking need, once documentation is received from Occupational Health and Wellness authorizing the parking requirement.  Staff will still be required to purchase a valid parking permit.  If accessible parking is required for a period exceeding three months, a MTO Accessible Parking Permit must be obtained.

Students

Should students require a temporary medical accommodation (up to 3 months), arrangements will be made by parking to accommodate the short term parking need, once documentation is received from Student Accessibility Services, authorizing the parking requirement.  Students will still be required to purchase a valid parking permit.  If accessible parking is required for a period exceeding three months, a MTO Accessible Parking Permit must be obtained.
