Employee Transit Pass

Discounted Transit Fare for U of G Employees Photo of OnYourWay card
Question Answer
Who Qualifies?

As of OCTOBER 1, 2025 this program will be discontinued.

This program is only available to staff that are currently on the program.

What is the Cost? With the new pay-as-you-go system, riders load money onto their OnYourWay card and pay for rides as they go. There's no need to buy a monthly pass upfront.
How it works:
  • Load your card with as much money as you want, whenever you want.
  • Any balance remaining at the end of the month stays on the card for future use (no expiration).
  • If you ride less, you’ll save money compared to purchasing a monthly pass.
  • Once you reach the monthly fare cap, the rest of the rides are free for the month.
Cost Breakdown:
  • U of G employees pay a discounted fare of $2.25 per ride.
  • For 32 rides in a month, that comes to $72.
  • After 32 rides, you ride for free for the rest of the month!

Example: If you take 32 rides, you’ll pay $72. After that, all additional rides within the month are free.

Monthly Fare Cap Details

The monthly fare cap applies as follows:

  • The cap starts at 12:00 a.m. on the 1st day of the month and ends at 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the month.
  • This system is beneficial for riders who typically don’t use the full monthly pass, saving you money.
  • For comparison: A typical monthly pass costs $89.60, but with this system, you only pay for what you use.

Extended Transfer Time

Starting in September, riders will have 90 minutes to transfer between buses (an increase from the current 60 minutes).

This allows more flexibility in planning your trips.

If the transfer time exceeds 90 minutes, a new fare will be charged for the ride.

How Do I Sign Up?
